brera design district

From April 2011 Milan becomes the world design centre once again thanks to its districts, its circuits and its routes full of initiatives and turmoil. The Brera area stands out as one of the most vital and interesting centres of the Milan panorama thanks to the many galleries and numerous showrooms that enliven its streets.
Convinced of the contribution it can give to the development and growth of this area as a cultural, art and design pole, we are proud to be the main sponsor of the Brera Design District.
In this spirit the Valcucine showroom in Corso Garibaldi 99 is a space unique in its kind and becomes a landmark in the Brera area and for the Fuorisalone, which is a platform and a support system for companies, organizations, private or associations for the development, production, promotion and the communication of Fuorisalone events, offering various services to the world of design and to the townspeople.

Brera Design District is also the launching pad of the Valcucine spirit: a place dedicated to art, to events, to moments in which people can meet and exchange information. At the same time it is a shop window through which one can learn about product novelties, in which one can admire the installations exhibited and consult the EcoBook Shop dedicated to volumes of bio-architecture and ecology. During the Salone del Mobile furniture exhibition it will also be the Brera Design District’s PRESS POINT.

Synthesis, transformation, expression of the possible creative paths of tomorrow: Valcucine offers projects that go beyond the kitchen space giving life to Valcucine Living and to the brand new Valcucine Laundry, the star of the layout that Valcucine has prepared for this edition in collaboration with AEG for the household appliances and davidegroppi for the lighting.
Valcucine Laundry
is not just a product but is an additional real service for the design population of Milan: in fact, those who will visit the BDD website will have the opportunity of personally using LAUNDRY during those days!

All these projects are based on the commitment to design in an eco-compatible way: respect for life and for quality that is expressed through industry’s responsibility towards the society of the present and of the future and that stimulates the company to take an active part in the cultural and social promotion of the territory it is based on.

Milano design-in-the-city is the new urban event entirely dedicated to design enthusiasts. Showroom, culture and entertainment are the three souls of the initiative, linked by a common thread: “Shape of dreams”.

From Thursday 22nd to Sunday 25th October 2009, product circuits, cultural initiatives and entertainment activities, a unique occasion to meet the protagonists of international design and live an inedited experience experience rich of contents: the best design is on display in exceptional installations and available to be purchased.

Here below you find the invitation to the opening of the exhibition ‘R.S.V.P. 1000 invitation regarding fashion, art and design’,
that will be held today, Wednesday 21st at 7.00pm at the DesignLibrary in via Savona 11, Milan.

Valcucine’s exhibition route has been divided into autonomous yet interdependent spaces which, as well as presenting new products, have the aim of defining the company’s identity in a non-exhaustive way. Visitors will have the opportunity of realising that it is possible to reconcile aesthetics and ethics; compromise between innovation and tradition; trust in technology and stimulate creativity; produce functional, comfortable and original objects while guaranteeing environmental protection. The assistance of artists such as ArteDeisa in the ARTEMATICA VITRUM ARTE programme, shown here in three different versions, and Ugo Nespolo in the new ARTEMATICA AMPHIMAS programme, has the aim of showing that creative passion and handicraft techniques can blend to recover the priceless value of manual ability. This new wood finish of Amphimas has a very chunky appearance: an even texture that allows continuous horizontal grain alignment. Ugo Nespolo drawings come to life on the door surfaces and on the table thanks to the inlay technique, a symbol of the recovery of an authentic tradition for which the patient hand of man is still essential. A cabinet for the living room is also available with this artistic customisation, designed to create clean, tidy and simply elegant environments.  Revolutionary ideas can be born from a commitment to environmental sustainability, such as the Riciclantica door (the first 2 mm thick glass door ever to be produced, selected by the ADI – Industrial Design Association – Index 2007), the honeycombed aluminium bookcase (8 mm thick) or, yet again, the new base unit entirely in glass designed to eliminate double side panels and finally reach the objective of a fully-recyclable kitchen. Not only do the materials used guarantee resistance and durability, they are also completely recyclable and non-toxic, while the reduction of volumes reaches the boundary of dematerialisation for clean, tidy and minimalist environments. Collaboration with the Polytechnic of Milan, with Alessandro Mendini and with Alessi further witnesses to Italian genius that becomes excellence.
